Installation

Use the following steps to adopt the Eittschess viewer to your own broadcasting requirements:

1. Download the latest version (liveNNN.zip) from the download section.

2. Copy the .zip file to the base directory you want to broadcast from. All files will be extracted to a subdirectory „live/“.

Example:

If you want to transmit from http://your.website.com/your_event, copy the zip file into the directory (via ftp and unzip it). It will generate:

 http://your.website.com/your_event/live/index.html

and expects a pgn file (default: ichess.pgn)  located in:

http://your.website.com/your_event/live/pgn

Every 5 (by default) seconds the viewer looks if this file has changed, and updates the browser accordingly.

All of the above parameters can be easily changed by modifying a few lines in your index.html file.

Open the file: http://your.website.com/your_event/live/index.html with an text editor such as notepad, and change the parameters as convenient. Examples are given in the configuration section. Alternatively you can use URI parameters directly if enabled (again see the config section).

That's it, you are done !

The file index.html

The default index.html file as extracted has the following content.

<HTML>
	<HEAD>
		<META NAME="description" content="Eitschess.de GNFDL Viewer Rev.1.0g, (c) 2008-2015 Felix Fuernhammer">
		<META NAME="author" content="Felix Fuernhammer (based on Lutz Tautenhahn)">
		<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=utf-8">

PGN File requirements

The viewer reads the any pgn file and interprets the games in it.

The following tags are evaluated and required for a decent display:

[White “Player White”]
[Black “Player Black”]
[Result “1-0”] (0-1,1/2-1/2,*)

If a time comment if given right after the move in the format {h:mm:ss}, it will be displayed. See the demo file in pgn/ichess.pgn, which btw has been taken from a real German Bundesliga event.

Example: 1. e4 {1:40:21} e5 {1:39:38} 2. ....,

Testing a Configuration

You can easily test your configuraton by putting a valid pgn file into the appropriate directory and switch the demo mode on via the URI by typing on the URI line:

http://your.website.com/your_event/live/index.html?IsDemo=1
